Opposition to planned commissioners' allowance rise

by isleofman.com 12th November 2013

Local authority members who attend meetings during the day are set to receive more money.

Tynwald’s being asked to approve a proposal to increase attendance allowance.

However, the move has angered a number of commissioners – the majority of whom have evening meetings, as opposed to Douglas Councillors where most meetings are held during the day.

Malew commissioner Eddie Power is opposed to any kind of rise.

Speaking on Agenda last night, he said he believes the proposal isn't justified.
