Steam Packet Company's website booking system back online

by isleofman.com 13th November 2013

The transfer of the Steam Packet Company’s website to Isle of Man-based PDMS has been completed earlier than expected.

The online reservations system was unavailable from early Monday and had been scheduled to be offline until Thursday. However, PDMS has completed the work earlier than expected. Some users may continue to be directed to the site’s old address, with an unavailable booking system, until the website’s new IP address propagates throughout the internet, which could take a day or two. The telephone opening hours will revert back to the normal weekday hours of between 08:30hrs and 18:30hrs from today (Wednesday 13th November).

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘We are really pleased that PDMS was able to complete the work so quickly and we hope it has kept any inconvenience to our customers to a minimum.

‘The work undertaken is the first step in a planned series of improvements to our reservation system, with PDMS taking over operations of the website from a UK firm.

‘At this stage, customers won’t notice any major difference to the website. However, what is important is that we now have an even more stringent security system in place to protect payments made online and future developments over the next 12 months will improve the speed and reliability of our reservations system.’
