Police investigating theft in Ballasalla

by isleofman.com 15th November 2013
PC Robin Arnold of the Southern Neighbourhood Policing team is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the culprits of a crime which occurred in the South of the Island on the evening of Wednesday 13th November 2013.  A significant quantity of diesel and a vehicle battery were stolen from a secure yard in Balthane Industrial Estate, Ballasalla, leaving the owner of the premises out of pocket to the tune of hundreds of pounds.

The smell of diesel is unmistakeable and the yard itself the following morning was reeking of the substance.  The culprits must have smelt very strongly upon returning home that night.  Did someone you know smell strongly of diesel that night?  Have you been offered some red or white diesel at a knock down price?

It is getting to the time of year that unfortunately we are faced with this type of crime all too often.  The public are reminded to secure domestic and commercial fuel tanks with good quality locks and consider further deterrents if they consider their supplies vulnerable.  Speak to any Police officer to gain some tips on what you can do to keep your fuel supplies secure this winter.

All information is treated with the utmost of confidentiality.  Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
