Flybe staff on Island to seek talks with Manx government

by isleofman.com 16th November 2013
Flybe staff on the Island are seeking talks with the Manx government over their futures.
Yesterday afternoon it was confirmed that the airline would be closing it's Isle of Man base at the end of next March with the loss of 49 jobs.
The move forms part of a strategic review which had been announced earlier in the week, in which a total of six regional bases across the UK will be closed with up to 500 redundancies.
At a TravelWatch meeting in Douglas this morning (Sat) with over 100 people present, former Manx Airlines boss Terry Liddiard described the situation for the Island as very serious and said it had been a terrible year for air travel.
Mr Liddiard added that there's some uncertainty about what may happen with Flybe
The meeting was attended by Director of Ports Anne Reynolds and Chief Executive of the Steam Packet Mark Woodward.
