In the pink: Heron and Brearley raises ?2000 for Breast Cancer Campaign

by isleofman.com 18th November 2013

Heron and Brearley staff and customers have raised ?2000 for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

The highlight of the campaign’s October awareness-raising programme came on Friday October 25th when, for one day only, pink was the new black for Wear It Pink Day at Heron and Brearley where, for a donation of ?2, any item of pink could be worn.

A pink-tinted hue descended over many of the company’s pubs, Spar stores and at its Kewaigue headquarters with staff dressed in pink and some releasing their inner Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood to bake cakes for sale. Adding to the fundraising mix were pink cocktails, pink food and pink raffle prizes.

Heron and Brearley helped boost the amount raised by donating ?3 for every new subscriber to its manngo card, the key to all the latest promotions on manngo.im, the essential go-to website for what’s on where in the island.

HR manager Sarah Blayden said: ‘This was a fantastic achievement. Everyone in the group – in our pubs, our Spar outlets, in the brewery and at head office – is to be congratulated as they really got behind this campaign in all kinds of imaginative ways.  It’s thanks to great teamwork right across the business, along with the support of our customers, that we have been able to raise this magnificent sum to help the vital work of the Breast Cancer Campaign.’
