Tynwald approves Housing Review Recommendations Report

by isleofman.com 19th November 2013
Tynwald has approved the Housing Review Recommendations report after a debate lasting three and half hours.
The motion had been moved by Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw and seconded by Castletown MHK Richard Ronan.
Whilst several members had concerns about the report and the policy recommendations it contained, particularly with regard to a lack of detail, the motion was eventually passed by 18 votes to 6 in the House of Keys and 7 votes to 1 in Legislative Council.
An amendment from Onchan MHK David Quirk to have the report referred to the Social Policies Review Committee for examination and report was rejected by the court.
Speaking in his summing up, Mr Robertshaw said that whilst there was a long way to go, he was heartened by the fact that local authorities were aware that change was important
