Wise up to warm ways this winter

by isleofman.com 21st November 2013
A new online guide to staying safe and healthy this winter has been launched by the Island's health department.
It's aimed at helping elderly, infirm and chronically sick people prepare for severe winter weather.
Up to 40 additional people die in the Island each winter, mainly over the age of 65, from illnesses and injuries caused by the cold.
The guide offers a range of tips from how to stay warm while keeping an eye on fuel bills, to stocking up on tins and freezer food in case of a sudden drop in temperature.
Consultant in public health medicine Dr Paul Emerson says the key message is - be prepared:
You can find the guide at gov.im/winterhealthClip 1
