Commissioner: we weren't asked about hourly rates

A Malew commissioner says he’s surprised at changes made by the Department of Infrastructure this week to payments for board members.

Infrastructure Minister David Cretney won the support of Tynwald to make some allowances payable to councillors and commissioners hourly instead of by the meeting.

Malew member Eddie Power says boards had already largely rejected the idea of a pay rise in order to save ratepayers’ money.

And he says he was never consulted about proposals to introduce hourly allowances:Clip 1
