Attorney General trial to begin

by isleofman.com 25th November 2013
The trial of the Isle of Man's Attorney General is due to start later today (Monday).

Stephen Harding is charged with perjury and submitting false documentation.

The trial is expected to last a fortnight.
Stephen Harding has been the Isle of Man's Attorney General since November 2010.

It is alleged that 52 year-old Mr Harding, of Glen Vine, wilfully made a statement he knew to be false, while under oath.

The Island's main legal adviser to the government was suspended last year and has been temporarily replaced by John Quinn, who is acting in the role for 12 months.

The trial at Douglas Courthouse is likely to be preceded by legal argument.
