Cambrian Place scheme scrapped

by isleofman.com 25th November 2013
Douglas Council says it’s scrapping plans to transform a disused plot of land in central Douglas into offices.

The corporation was hoping to build a car park, new library and office space on Cambrian Place near the bus station.

But Council leader David Christian says the Department of Infrastructure won’t give permission for the local authority to borrow enough money to purchase the land, and the company that currently owns it has now pulled out.

Councillor Christian says it’s the latest in a series of proposals in the area that have come to nothing:Clip 1
