The work of former Maughold resident, the bestselling author Catherine Gaskin is to be made available to a new generation of readers. Her literary estate, The Society of Authors, has licensed the first ebook edition of her work, which will be available from December 5th, 2013.
The Property of a Gentleman by Catherine Gaskin tells the story of a young woman, Jo Roswell, from a great auction house who finds herself embroiled in the secrets and history of a remote stately home in England's Lake District. A number one bestseller when it was first published, this ebook edition will be released by digital imprint Corazon Books.
Known as “The Queen of Storytellers”, Catherine Gaskin's books sold over 40 million copies during her lifetime. She was born in Ireland, in 1929, the youngest of six children. The Gaskin family emigrated to Australia, but in 1981 Catherine Gaskin moved to the Isle of Man with her American husband, Sol Cornberg, where she lived until 2000 (a year after her husband's death).
The Property of a Gentleman is a romantic suspense novel, which encompasses the world of auctioneering and antiques, the struggle to save natural landscapes from development, and the tragic story of a young Spanish aristocrat whose life was cut short many centuries before. Each of the residents of Thirlbeck, the stately home at the centre of events, carries their own secrets and desires, and Jo Roswell struggles with difficult discoveries as she unlocks the puzzles which link Thirlbeck's past and present residents.
Ian Skillicorn of Corazon Books says: “I'm delighted that this haunting work by “The Queen of Storytellers” will be available for a new generation of readers to discover. I've also been struck by the enthusiastic response from fans of Catherine Gaskin's novels who are looking forward to revisiting this story in digital format."
