The Microgaming Health & Care Trust (www.microgamingtrust.co.im) has made a donation to provide the National Sports Centre (NSC) with a new Resusci Anne QCPR manikin, to be used for life support training.
Resusci Anne is an adult manikin which is used to teach resuscitation techniques; it creates the most accurate simulation possible including a realistic head tilt, chin lift, compression depth and chest rise. Resusci Anne with QCPR is the new standard for delivering high quality CPR training. It has a built-in QCPR training solution to measure performance and assess results; key factors when developing competency. Thanks to a donation from the Microgaming Health & Care Trust, the NSC is now equipped with this teaching tool which will vastly improve the delivery of training to its lifeguards.
Hon Graham Cregeen MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, comments: “Whilst of course this donation will be of huge benefit to the coaches and trainees, it will ultimately benefit anyone who should ever find themselves in an emergency situation. In addition to the NSC, the piece of equipment will also be used by other pools around the island and by Heartstart, a voluntary charity that provides island-wide CPR training. Teaching sessions from Heartstart are delivered to local businesses, doctor’s surgeries, care homes and schools to name a few.
Mike Ferguson, Heartstart coordinator, comments: “We aim to deliver as many Heartstart courses on the island as possible to enable the public to learn vital emergency life support skills. We’d like to thank the Trust for this fantastic piece of equipment which will really help in our training sessions.”
Dr Roy Clague, a Trustee of the Microgaming Health Care & Trust, adds: “You can never underestimate the importance of training, especially when it involves something as serious as CPR and life saving measures. To ensure training levels are kept to the highest standard and are well maintained, it is vital that the NSC and Heartstart have the most up-to-date equipment. We are thrilled to be able to play our part in providing them with this teaching tool; they are fully deserving of our support.”
