Manx Telecom reports cracking Christmas sales figures

by isleofman.com 11th December 2013

Manx Telecom is already reporting record-breaking pre-Christmas sales figures with significant year on year increases on smartphone and tablet sales. Figures released for November show the top selling smartphone was the iPhone 5s, and sales of all iPhones were up 60% on the same month last year. With three weeks still to go to Christmas, Manx Telecom Marketing Director David Smith says the company is heading for its best ever monthly sales figures for iPhones. He said:

“We are really pleased with sales figures so far, and we’re expecting this level of demand to continue right up to Christmas. The figures for November also show that our customers are early adopters of new technology – the figures for smartphone sales for November have proved that yet again. 90% of Pay Monthly customers are choosing a smartphone tariff, 82% of all handsets we sold were smartphones, and 50% of these were 4G ready. We’re seeing high levels of traffic to our store, especially at weekends. To meet demand we have added new customer service points in store and extended opening hours, including opening until 8.30pm every Thursday up to Christmas. The number of trade-ins we’re seeing - and Price Match Promises – are roughly double the regular monthly rates. Accessory sales are 20% up year on year and we installed a new accessory display to meet customer demand. All in all we’re delighted with the sales figures, which is good for us, good for our customers who will be getting some great Christmas presents this year, and good for the Island’s economy.”

Sales of tablet devices were also up 130% year on year for November with the top-selling Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 likely to be in many Christmas stockings this year. Christmas competitions are also helping to attract customers to Manx Telecom’s Strand Street shop and its online store. An iPhone 5c can be won by sending photos of cheesy Christmas jumpers to Instagram (with the tag #mtcomehome) between December 1 and Christmas Eve. Entries go into a prize draw. Gifts are also being given away every day from December 1 until Christmas Eve with an advent calendar-themed prize draw. You just need to like and share a post on the Manx Telecom Facebook page to enter the competition and to be in with a chance of winning the daily prize. Prizes will include hammerproof screen protectors for iPad, iPhone, and Samsung Galaxy S4 and AJAYS smartphone headphones. Every Tuesday during the prize draw period, will be a ‘Top-Up Tuesday’ with a chance to win a ?20 pay as you go top-up voucher.

A ‘Come Home To Manx Telecom’ game can be played at www.homeforchristmas.im and it’s also available for free from Apple and Google app stores. Just search for ‘come home’ and you’ll find it. Simply match three or more icons in a row to score points – the player with the highest score when the competition closes on December 20 will win a fantastic iPhone 5s 16GB in Space Grey.
