St George’s have moved six points clear at the top of the Canada Life Premier League – but only after they were given a scare by Michael United.
The westerners led the reigning champions at the break, thanks to a goal from Nicky Sloane.
However, the Geordies came from behind to confirm their dominance with goals from Chris Bass, Frank Jones and Conor Doyle.
Laxey’s hope of a top two finish suffered a blow as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Ramsey.
Laxey led through Mark Wolfenden but Ramsey hit back after the break through Jordan Kelly to earn a point.
Corinthians also fought back to surprise another of the top flight’s high-fliers.
St John’s led 2-0 at Ballafletcher after goals from Louis Morris and Rhys Oates only for the home side to come back with goals from Chris Cannell and a Louis Thornton penalty.
Another of the leading sides also had to settle for a point as Castletown put their relegation form aside to draw the southern derby at Rushen.
Town led four times only for Rushen to hit back on each occasion.
And although the point will probably be in vain for the bottom club as they fight relegation, they will take heart from the performance.
The marksmen for Town, who led within the opening seconds, were Kieron Iveagh (two), Liam Crawley and Joel Callow.
Aaron Hawley was the home side’s hero with a hat-trick and Harry Best netted the other.
The match was somewhat overshadowed by an incident involving two spectators at the end of the match.
Ramsey Youth Centre also remain in relegation trouble, despite a battling showing.
In the end, a second half goal from Gary Quirk secured the three points for Old Boys.
