Knight off to a flyer

by isleofman.com 13th January 2014
Manxman David Knight made a perfect start to the New Year, leading a field of world-class riders to win the opening round of the 2014 British Extreme Enduro Championship.

Knight clinched victory at the Eddy’s Xtreme event at Tong near Bradford, taking control of the race on the opening lap and staying in front for the entire race.

He saw off rival Graham Jarvis and fellow Manxie Danny McCanney, who finished in an impressive third place.

It wasn’t all plain sailing though as Knight explained: ‘My start and first hour of the race went well. I managed to pull a good few minutes lead. I then pitted for fuel and my quick fill device broke, spilling more fuel on me than in the bike.

‘We lost a good 30-40 seconds there and I started panicking, which resulted in a few mistakes and crashes. Graham closed right in on me with half an hour to go. I managed to refocus and dig deep to take the win!’
