Age Isle Man wishes to thank all those people who helped to make our Christmas Hamper Appeal such a huge success again last month. We sent out over 200 hampers which spread a great deal of cheer across the Island and they were well received by older people everywhere.
The needy recipients were identified as a result of referrals by Age Isle of Man staff, social workers, Graih and other charities as well as good neighbours everywhere who sent in recommendations.
Age Isle of Man CEO, George Quayle commented:
“This was a truly splendid effort which showed the tremendous generosity of the people of the Isle of Man. Without their exceptional goodwill it would not have been possible to distribute so many hampers and it is pleasing to note that so many are still thinking of older people during the festive season.”
He added:
“The success of the Hamper appeal was due to a real collective effort. We had more ready made hamper donations than ever this year, from a wide variety of sources such as Nedbank Private Wealth, Marsh IOM, Knox House Trust, Swagelok, IOM Prison and the students of Ballakermeen High School. In addition we received generous contributions towards making up hampers from St Christopher’s Fellowship, Zurich International and from Victoria House Nursery which organised the very successful collections from Shoprite customers in Peel, Port Erin, Douglas, Onchan and Ramsey.
My final thanks go to Age Isle of Man staff Ann-Marie Bonham and Drew Hill for the time and effort they put into packing and delivery. It was a major logistical, but very worthwhile operation!”
