Defeat for motion to establish Island EEZ

An MHK has called on the Manx government to demand extended rights from the UK to exploit seas around the Island.
Peter Karran tabled a motion in Tynwald aimed at establishing an Exclusive Economic Zone or EEZ.
He argued the Manx government should press for the status on the basis the UK is obliged under a United Nations charter, to promote the interests of the Isle of Man.

Mr Bell said he'd explained to Mr Karran why an EEZ could not be created around the Isle of Man several times in the past.
