Top sides go goal crazy

The big hitters in Manx hockey won convincingly on Saturday.

In the PWC Men’s Premier Division, champions Bacchas A put 12 past Castletown A without reply to stay two points clear.

The romp was sealed with goals from Chris Whiting, Andy Kneale, Jamie Brown (three), Johnny Callow (three) and star man Tom Wilson who hit four.

Arch rivals Valkyrs A were 9-1 winners over Ramsey A.

Greg Miller (two), Gareth Morris (two), Ollie Webster, Sam Quinn, Stephen Moore and Juan Corlett (two) ensured Sam Moffatt’s reply was a mere consolation.

Bacchas B caused the shock of the day with a fine 2-1 success over Vikings A.

Tony Bentley-Roberts netted both goals with Dave Millward on target for Vikings.

Goal crazy Vikings A demolished Bacchas B 15-0 to maintain their 100 per cent record in the PWC Women’s Premier Division.

Goals from Kirsty Cooper (four), Chelsea Bawden (three), Breesha Foxton (two), Kim Carney (two), Zoe Carney, Kirsty Bowley and Sarah Breen – plus an own goal - sealed a rout for the reigning champions.

Elsewhere, Sophie Stiutt and Vicky Garner scored the goals as Ramsey A earned an impressive 2-1 win over Bacchas A, who replied through Niamh Goddard.

Valkyrs A ran out 4-0 winners over Castletown A, courtesy of strikes from Sarah Nichols (two), Bernie Dunn and Ellan Cleator.
