The Clerk of Tynwald Roger Phillips has welcomed the Clerk to the Cabinet, Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), to Tynwald.
Crystal Robinson was in the Island on a two-week secondment with the Chief Secretary’s Office to gain practical minute-taking and writing experience.
Her programme provided opportunities to attend meetings of the Council of Ministers and a number of its sub-committees and also to observe a Tynwald questions session.
Mr Phillips, who was joined by deputy Clerk of Tynwald Jonathan King, said: ‘Welcoming Ms Robinson to Tynwald provided an opportunity to further the close relationship the Isle of Man has established with the Turks and Caicos Island after the Speaker of the House of Keys, Steve Rodan SHK, led a parliamentary good governance seminar there in 2013. That same year we were also delighted to arrange a study visit to Tynwald for the TCI Deputy Speaker Josephine Connolly and clerk Tracey Parker.
‘It is always a pleasure to welcome officers from other jurisdictions to share knowledge and experience and, in the case of Turks and Caicos Islands, to assist in whatever way we can as the territory works towards developing its new parliamentary procedures.
