A former MHK and government minister has told a court a loan he was offering would have prevented the collapse of an Island company.
Walter Gilbey agreed to lend ?70,000 to help Street Heritage avoid liquidation.
Mr Gilbey, a family friend of the firm's owners the Irvings, believed it would allow the firm time to settle a ?182,000 tax bill.
Mr Gilbey's views were heard at the trial of Attorney General Stephen Harding.
He denies charges of perjury and committing acts against public justice, relating to the winding-up of Street Heritage.
