Last chance to enter music festival

by isleofman.com 7th February 2014

Organisers of one of the most popular events on the cultural calendar are urging local talent to enter now.

Musicians, singers and dancers are being reminded that applications for the Manx Music Festival, known locally as The Guild, close tomorrow (Saturday). The annual festival takes place between April 25 and May 3 at the Villa Marina. There are 186 categories celebrating music, drama, speech and dance.

Highlights include a weekend of brass, children's day, songs from the musicals and the grand finale, the Cleveland Medal, won last year by mezzo soprano Elizabeth Townsend (pictured).

As well as the prestige of being a festival winner, successful entrants can also access scholarships and awards. Application forms are available from david_cowley@hotmail.com and should be returned to 8 Cronk-y-Berry Avenue, Douglas. For more information visit www.manxmusicfestival.org
