Cuplas Callow Ramsey Men's Darts League

by isleofman.com 7th February 2014

The latest league fixtures were played on Tuesday 4th February and the Plough A train just keeps thundering along.

Bar Logo 2 - 7 Plough A: The Plough boys did a demolition job on the Logo, steaming through the pairs 3-0.  To be fair to the Logo they could have been so much higher up the league as they have lost so many games 5-4 but tonight wasn't to be.  The Douglas pair of Alan Young and Andy Evans showing the class our league is attracting Alan beating Geoff Howland 2-0 with 7 ton plus scores on the night and a 15 and 18 dl , Geoff himself hitting 8 ton scores on the night.   Andy took the scalp of Gazza Uren 2-0 with 4 ton plus scores and a 21 darter.  The rear guard of the Plough team is full of strength so there was to be no shocks this week Chris Wade hitting 5 tons on the night and a 19 darter.  Bettered only by Andy Hudgeon with 5 tons , 18 and 20 dart legs.

Stanley 4 - 5 Swan: The Swan can only keep winning their games and hope the Plough A slip up, tonight the Swan nearly did the slipping up.  They have strength in depth also and thanks to big Wayne Harrison and Paul Palmer setting their stalls out in the pairs with a 16 and 19 dart game the Stanley must have thought it was going to be a long night but they were to win the remaining pairs games.  Harrison and Palmer took the Swan back in front indeed Wayne hitting a huge 10 ton hall.  Marty Long putting them one away from victory.  Jimmy Mac and Charlie Cover winning their games and taking it to the decider.  Yukky up against Stevie Waters this went all the way and with both missing the winning double it was finally hit by Geordie for a close win.

Commie 6 - 3 Mitre: The Commie boys I had down as a dark horse this year but they didn't really live up to it but now they are getting right up to speed, and when you win 6-3 against a side with my star man this year Roy Dunlop who just keeps banging in the tons then they can beat anyone.  The Commie boys have class also and their captain Chris McConnell showed that last week in the captains cup.  He continued his form with 5 ton plus scores including a fine 177. Roy Dunlop is throwing darts at the moment that no one will want to come up against him another 2 match winning performances from him.

RAOB 1 - 8 Commie Raven: You can't knock the buffs boys they turn up every week with a full side and enjoy their darts but unfortunately yet another hammering for the orange army their only plus was John Piekalns winning again. The Commie boys missing two of their big guns Phil Teare and Jay Radcliffe still looked a class act. Both Mick Antrobus and Malcom Kinrade stepping in and gaining wins the highlight for them was the old farmer Charlie Cormode who keeps making himself known this week with a 180.
