WI Centenary Baton tours Island

by isleofman.com 12th February 2014
2015 marks 100 years of the Women’s Institute, and the Isle of Man’s WIs are getting in on the action.
A Centenary Baton started travelling around the Federations in January this year, and it arrived on the Island from Cheshire last night.
The Centenary Baton will be formally handed over at an event at Government House this morning.
And representative from each of the 30 WI’s on the Island will be there.
The baton will then tour the Island, attending many a coffee and cake event, as well as the Valentine Afternoon Tea and Music afternoon in Port Erin on Friday.
It’ll be at the Service of Celebration at St Johns Church in Tynwald on Sunday, and Monday will see the baton head west to take in the sites.
Finally, on Tuesday, the WI will wave the baton off as it departs for Lancashire.
From there it will continue its journey to every WI Federation.
The final stop will be the Royal Albert Hall next summer.
