Planners will be asked to approve a further application to transform retail units into residential dwellings at Callow's Yard in Castletown.
The shopping centre owner Roy Tilleard has applied for planning approval to alter buildings in Malew Street and the Fusion Bar. The application is for 9-11 and 17-19 Malew Street, and the Fusion space occupying the first, second and third floor unit behind 17-19 Malew Street.
It follows an earlier application to convert retail units in Arbory Street into residential accommodation.
All the units are part of the multi-million pound Callow's Yard shopping complex that was developed on the town centre site. If planners approve the scheme, Callow's Yard would become predominantly residential. Castletown commissioners held a public meeting for residents and rate payers earlier this month in response to concerns about the future of the Callow's Yard complex.
