The search is on to find the best farmers on the Isle of Man.
Nominations are being sought by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture for the 2014 Tomorrows' Farmer Award.
DEFA Minister Phil Gawne, who is one of the judges, explained: 'This award not only aims to showcase the best farmers in the Isle of Man but provides an opportunity to share best practice, to inspire others and to let people know more about the hard work that goes into producing the quality produce which we can all enjoy. We have some excellent Manx farmers so we look forward to receiving plenty of nominations.'
This year's award is again being sponsored by Shoprite. Senior buyer John Speakman said: 'This award is very important for the Isle of Man as it recognises the farmers who provide great quality, fresh produce. It should encourage future generations of farmers by demonstrating that there is demand for local produce and therefore a future in the industry.'
Nominations should be made before March 28 and should give a brief reason why the farmer has been nominated and describe how he or she meets the selection criteria of efficient and profitable farming, meeting consumer demand, promoting locally produced food, innovative farming and farming in ways that conserve the environment.
