Change needed as England to drop GCSEs

‘No change is not an option’.

So says the Education Minister after confirming his department is to launch a major public consultation over plans to extensively reform GCSE exams.

In schools in England, proposals have been laid out which will lead to tougher exams and a move away from coursework from 2015.

Wales and Northern Ireland have already rejected the changes.
