Isle of Man Bank Sports Awards Guest of Honour revealed

Isle of Man Sport is pleased to announce that Rebecca Adlington, former Double Olympic Swimming Champion will be the guest of honour at the 2013 Isle of Man Bank Sports Awards, which will take place on the 10 April 2014 at the Royal Hall, Villa Marina.

Rebecca, who won two Gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and two Bronze medals at the 2012 London Olympics will also attend a motivational workshop with local young athletes during her visit to the Island.

Rebecca said "I’m really excited about coming to the Isle of Man as a guest for the 2013 Isle of Man Sports Awards.  Sport is so important across the world, and particularly with children in developing their vital skills.  I know how popular sport is in the Isle of Man and I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing about some of the island’s great sporting successes”.

IOM Sport Chairman, Hon Graham Cregeen MHK, commented: “Once again, we have had a marvellous year for Manx sport and the awards evening provides a wonderful opportunity for the people of the Isle of Man to recognise outstanding sporting achievements in 2013. We look forward to welcoming Rebecca to our Island and sharing with her many of the Isle of Man’s sporting success stories in 2013”.

The evening will be also linked with the presentation of Sports Aid sponsorships for those young athletes who will be supported by Isle of Man Sport Aid in 2014-15.
