Spaces are filling up quickly for the Triathlon Festival Weekend in May; Microgaming (www.microgaming.co.uk) is encouraging athletes to enter now to avoid disappointment!

The Microgaming Triathlon Festival Weekend takes place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May. Held at the usual Ramsey based course, it is a Sprint Triathlon Event comprising a 30 length swim, 20km cycle and 5km run. This is the first time the event is being spread across two days rather than one. Saturday 10th May will host the popular Individual Event whilst the following day will be the Team Event.

June Collister from the Manx Tri Club Committee explains: “Running the races over two days enables us to accommodate many more competitors and to create a spectacular weekend event on the Triathlon calendar. Thanks to Microgaming’s support we’ve really been able to build the popularity of Triathlons on the island and the number of entrants we’ve had so far speaks volumes!”

The Individual Event is already full with 100 competitors set to take part. However, there are still places left for the Team Event. Over 40 teams (either made up of two or three members) have entered so far with a maximum capacity of 100 teams.

Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, says: “Having taken part in many Manx Tri Club events on the island, I can thoroughly recommend this one! It’s wonderful that the Individual Triathlon has sold out, but for those of you who would still like to get involved, why not enter as a team? There are still places up for grabs, so make sure you enter soon to avoid disappointment!”

All proceeds raised from this year’s Team Event aregoing towards supporting the Isle of Man Team at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Juliet Holt, President of the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association (IOMCGA), adds: “We are extremely grateful to Microgaming for their support, and to everyone who is organising the event and those taking part. All funds raised from the Team Triathlon will go towards supporting Team Isle of Man’s participation in all the sports in which the Island will be represented at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. IOMCGA is a registered charity responsible for the publicity, fundraising, travel, and support for our national squad and proceeds raised from initiatives such as this will help us to send the strongest possible team to the Games this summer.”

Entry for the Triathlon Festival Weekend Team Event is just ?48 per team, with a closing date of 1st May 2014. To enter, please visit www.manxtriclub.com.
