New income tax personal allowances

In his Budget speech last month, the Treasury Minister, announced an increase in income tax personal allowances as follows:
Personal allowances

Personal allowances - 2013/14

Single person ?9,300
Married couple/civil partner (combined) ?18,600

Personal allowances - 2014/15

Single person ?9,500
Married couple/civil partner (combined) ?19,000

The Income Tax Division of Treasury is preparing to issue 2014/15 tax codes to people in employment. If the only change to an employee’s tax code is as a result of the above increase in the personal allowance, a coding notice (form T1) is not issued to the employee. Employers, however, will be notified of all changes to their employees’ tax codes.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding your tax code you can contact the Income Tax office in the following ways:

* Phone the Customer Service Team on 685400
* Visit or write to the Customer Service Team on 2nd floor, Government Office, Buck’s Road, Douglas. Office opening hours are Mon - Thurs 9.15am - 5pm, Fri 9.15am - 4.30pm
* Email the Customer Service Team – incometax@itd.treasury.gov.im
