Cavendish to race Milan-San Remo after all

by isleofman.com 4th March 2014
Just days after organisers announced the five kilometre long Pompeiana climb would not feature in the final section of the Milan-San Remo, Mark Cavendish now looks set to race in the one-day classic after all.
The inclusion of the testing climb looked to have thwarted the sprinters' chances of success and Cav originally said he was going to give the race a miss this season.
But the 2009 winner has had a change of heart after organisers withdrew the Pompeiana due to safety concerns and land slides.
The course has now returned to a flatter, more traditional profile with only the infamous Poggio and Cipressa climbs towards the end.
Omega Pharma-Quick Step have confirmed the Manx Missile will contest one of cycling's monuments later this month.
