Beach cleaners join forces

by isleofman.com 5th March 2014

Beach Buddies is backing an initiative by Marks & Spencer to clean the beach at Castletown.

Everybody who registers online to take part (www.mcsuk.org/foreverfish) will receive a ?5 M&S voucher on the day.

The beach clean takes place on Sunday April 27 and is part of the retailer's UK Big Beach Clean-up across 95 beaches and 45 canals. The Beach Buddies volunteer group led by Bill Dale has supported the M&S annual clean up day in the past and is providing support again this year, tackling an area of Castletown beach that was badly hit by the winter storms. The organisation will be providing litterpickers, gloves and bin bags and help dispose of the materials collected, as well as the recycling of cans and plastic.

Meanwhile, Beach Buddies is back in action this weekend, with a cleaning session at Derbyhaven on Saturday and at Sartfield on Sunday. Both sessions start at 10.30am and Beach Buddies will provide all equipment. New volunteers are welcome to join in.
