Lucky kayaker rescued

by isleofman.com 5th March 2014
A man whose kayak had capsized, leaving him unable to get back in, was rescued off the south west coast of the Island yesterday.
He was in the water for around 40 minutes, waving his arms, shouting and blowing a whistle to try and attract attention, all while getting colder and weaker.
The man was spotted by the Fisheries Protection Vessel 'Barrule', which was nearby at Fleshwick, carrying out scientific survey work.
He was lifted aboard, while Port Erin Lifeboat was called.
It launched, arriving minutes later, and took the man to a waiting ambulance in Port Erin, which transferred him to Noble's hospital.
