As part of its ongoing corporate responsibility initiatives, leading fiduciary and fund services specialists, Abacus, have donated over ?1000 to the Isle of Man Live at Home Scheme, a local charity that provides care, accommodation and support services to older adults across the Isle of Man.
The charity, which has been running for 15 years, supports around 450 older adults through the dedication and kindness of over 400 registered volunteers via its’ 5 schemes across the Island. Providing social contact and support for older people who wish to continue living at home without becoming isolated, they offer a wide range of activities ranging from one to one befriending and support, to information and signposting, to lunch clubs and social activities as well as outings.
Joining some of its members for a ‘chat and a cuppa’ at one of their coffee mornings recently, representatives from Abacus Trust Company Limited; Emer Dowling, Lorraine Boyd and Lesley Johnston; presented a cheque for ?1,132.62 to the charity on behalf of the local fiduciary and fund services provider.
Emer Dowling, Director at Abacus Trust Company Limited said: “It was a pleasure to present this cheque and more importantly to meet some of the members who benefit from the local charity. The Isle of Man Live at Home Scheme is a small charity with a big heart and the care and support it provides is brilliant. Having spoken to some of its members, it was lovely to learn about the variety of work the charity performs but more importantly to hear how much it enhances and improves the quality of life for some of the Island’s older people and to witness the level of enjoyment and happiness it delivers to them.
Live at Home Manager for the Isle of Man Live at Home Scheme, Jo Dixon, said: “On behalf of the Scheme, its members and our volunteers, I would like to thank Abacus for their generous donation which will go a long way to assist us in our ongoing mission to enhance and support the lives of our Island’s older generation. All monies received through donations like this are used directly in delivering our services, which we have been lucky enough to not have had to charge for in the last 15 years of operation. Last year we took delivery of our first new minibus and this year we are taking delivery of our second; all secured through fundraising and donations. This is incredibly exciting for us as it means we can grow and expand our services even more.”
