Free legal high information pack for parents

by isleofman.com 6th March 2014

The confidential Drug Advice Service & Helpline (DASH) is offering parents and members of the community an information pack to inform them about the risks of legal highs and how to discuss the issue with their children.

Director of DASH, Shelly Stanley said, ‘The issue of legal highs and new psychoactive substances are ever growing and continue to cause problems for mental and physical health to those who use them. It is important that parents and their children are informed and educated about the risks out there and that we address some of the myths.’

‘Legal Highs and Research Chemicals are substances that are packaged and sold with the promise that they mimic illegal drugs like Cocaine, Cannabis, LSD, Heroin and Ecstasy etc. These drugs have not been researched or tested for effects on humans. The implication is that they are a bit of fun and harmless which is untrue.’

‘The guide is written by Julian Cohen for HIT Health information agency and contains accurate and balanced information. We have been fortunate to raise funds needed to enable us to make these available to anyone in the community who would like to know more. If anyone would like a pack just call us on 615622 or email info@drugs.org.im and we will post those out to you. Please be assured we are a confidential service.
