CUPLAS Ramsey Men's Darts Report & Result

by isleofman.com 7th March 2014

Week 15 of 18 and it looks like the bookies aren't taking any more bets on the Plough A boys winning the title as it's now going to take a miracle for them to lose it.

Commie Raven 1 - 8 Plough A: Yes thats right 8-1 against the Commie Raven boys who are far from the whipping boys, their only win coming from Alan Kinrade hitting form just before the Northern championship, his haul for the night was 6 ton+ scores. The Plough A have just been on a different planet this year and when they are missing an influence player like Chris Wade in comes Ollie Webster who hits 7 tons. Their usual suspects of Geoff Howland (7 tons including a 180 and a 21dl) and Gary Uren (7 tons) taking two wins apiece and its great to see Jamie Arneil playing more and more darts this week 180 and a 20dl shows no one will want to draw him in the championships in 3 weeks.

Plough B 8 - 1 Commie: Another huge victory for the Plough lads and another player gaining form at the right time is Dave Faragher this week hauling 6 ton+ scores but he was made to play for his singles victory as Jamie Skillan another good player came back out of retirement taking a leg off Fags, indeed Jamie hitting 5 tons. Fags was backed up as usual by the ever reliable Mac MacDonald and Jamie Kelly. The Commie who have now lost Brian Thompson who has headed back to the emerald isle to live and also missing Mick " the machine " Walsh they were always going to be up against it. The match had already slipped away before their star player Chris McConnell gained their only scalp.

Stanley 7 - 2 RAOB: Big win for the defending champions and it's great to see the likes of Ross Walker (3 tons), Alex Doddrell (5 tons) and Jimmy MacDonald (5 tons) playing as good as ever even though their title has now gone. I think it's just a matter of time before the orange army gain their first win, they have the players if the draw goes right for them and yet again it was John Piekalns (3 tons) gaining both their wins. The Buffs were actually 1-0 up - keep going, it's going to happen.

Swan 6 - 3 Bar Logo: The Swan can still technically win the title but they know the leg difference is just too much now but they keep on playing some fantastic darts.  Even so it still took the birds till game 8 before the match was won. The Douglas boys showed their class yet again shame they can't do it on a Monday night. Both Andy Evans and Alan Young hitting 3 tons and a 19dl apiece and winning their 3 games. Martin Timoney was certainly a case of doubles for dough as he took off in his third leg match against John Taylor 100,140,100,100 and he lost the leg in approx 30 darts. For the birds John hit 6 ton+ scores Wayne Harrison hit 4 tons and a game of 19 and 20dl but the best leg of the night went to Paul Arthur with a 17dl.

Next week is the Plough sponsored 3-a-side competition and with a fantastic entry of 19 teams its going to be a couple of Tuesday's of great darts (all matches will be played in the Plough on two boards)
