Beach cleaning this weekend

by isleofman.com 7th March 2014

A reminder that Beach Buddies is doubling its efforts and will stage two cleaning sessions for volunteers this weekend, as the massive clean-up campaign continues following the winter storms.

The first will be on Saturday, March 8th, at Derbyhaven, and the second on Sunday, March 9th, at Sartfield (Jurby). Both sessions start at 10.30am.

Everyone on the Island has seen the devastation of the storms, and there has been massive coastal erosion, with huge amounts of previously buried rubbish having been washed up all over the coast.

Almost every beach on the Island now has huge amounts of rubbish in need of being cleared, and Beach Buddies intends to continue its work until the problem is resolved.

Beach Buddies provides all equipment and advises the wearing of warm clothing and decent walking shoes. New volunteers are always warmly welcomed.
