Department of Health chief executive to retire early

by isleofman.com 10th March 2014
The chief executive of the Department of Health is to retire early, it's been announced.

David Killip's departure will coincide with the date when the Department of Health ceases to exist because of the creation of the Department of Health and Social Care.

In his statement, Mr Killip says the restructuring of government departments, coming into effect on April 1, had been in the planning stage for some time.

He had told the Civil Service Commission that he did intend to retire ater 40 years service and, with restructuring, this would happen two years after the new department came into being.

He questioned whether his replacement, two years into that new department, would be helpful.

Mr Killip was censured last month by the Tynwald Standards Committee, looking into misleading statements made by the health minister, David Anderson.

The committee felt that a personal statement, at the heart of the issue, had been given insufficient care in its preparation.

News of the appointment of a new chief executive is expected shortly.
