Manx success at Crufts 2014

by isleofman.com 11th March 2014

Ynchreenoo show dogs, based in Maughold, enjoyed amazing success at Crufts.

The Manx show team of Pharaoh Hounds and Chinese Cresteds were competing at the world-famous dog show, held at The NEC in Birmingham from March 6 to 9.

Ynchreenoo’s biggest success was with Pharaoh Hound Boy Muddy. Muddy, an 18-month-old, was first in Post Grad Dog, a really tough class with dogs entered from all over the world. Pharaoh Hound Rainey, handled by pro handler Liz Dunhill, was first in Special Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy in Breed.

Laura Merryweather, proprietor of Ynchreenoo Show Kennel, handled Mud to his first place.

She said: ‘I have been fortunate to get second place in class before at Crufts, but to actually manage to win two firsts in  really competitive, tough classes is a dream come true and an amazing achievement. The feeling is exhilarating. It’s a moment we will always treasure forever.’

Ynchreenoo show team  has achieved some fantastic results over the last 12 months, including winning Best in Show at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show and, more recently, winning Best in Match at the Isle of Man Super Match. They have also taken some amazing results in the UK, most notably winning Top Pharaoh Hound Puppy in the UK 2013 and Top Pharaoh Hound Bitch in the UK 2012.
