Cavendish retains leader's jersey at Tirreno Adriatico

by isleofman.com 13th March 2014
Mark Cavendish has retained the leader's jersey after stage two of the Tirreno Adriatico in Italy.
The Manx Missile was however unable to contest the bunch sprint finish, finding himself boxed in during the race for the line.
He finished the stage on the same time as its surprise winner, Italian Matteo Pelucchi, who managed to beat the likes of Andre Greipel and Arnaud Demare to the line.
One of Cav's main sprint rivals, Marcel Kittel, crashed out of contention with a few kilometres to go and threw his bike to the ground in frustration.
Peter Kennaugh finished safely in the main bunch with a number of his Team Sky colleagues.
Tomorrow sees the riders tackle a relatively flat route of just over 200km, from Cascina to Arezzo.
