Exciting events coming up on the Steam Railway’s Dining Car

Bookings are now being taken for the Dining Car’s splendid early season events.
 
With a Murder Mystery dinner on Saturday 22nd March, a Manxman Sunday lunch and tea on 23 March and Mother’s Day lunches and teas on 30 March, the Dining Car will be serving up quality treats to suit all tastes.
 
Bookings can be made to Steamdining@gov.im or by phoning the booking clerk (Tuesday to Saturday) on 01624 697457.
 
Murder Mystery - 22nd March

The first Murder Mystery of the year will take place on Saturday 22 March. Diners are welcome to dress for the occasion and see if they can beat the detective to unravel the murder mystery played out in the sumptuous surroundings of the Dining Car where a four course gourmet murder mystery dinner will be served.
 
The Murder on the Manx Express menu, published in full with the wine list on our website, features taste bud-teasing main courses of slow roasted Manx lamb, Fisherman’s Pie and Ballahig farm steak. Delectable desserts are gooseberry and apple treacle tart with custard or white chocolate, lime and amaretto cheesecake with sponge Florentines.
 
Tickets are ?49 per person (no concessions).
 
The Murder Mystery train departs Douglas Station at 7pm prompt to Castletown, returning by 10.30pm.
 
Manxman Sunday Lunch – 23rd March
Mothering Sunday Lunch – 30th March

There’s a great tradition on the Isle of Man of families going out for Sunday lunch and the Dining Car is an opportunity to make it even more memorable. Whether you’re looking for a special treat for Mothering Sunday (30 March) or just a chance to enjoy a relaxing meal with friends or family, the Dining Car makes every meal a special occasion. Sunday lunch menus offer a choice of three appetisers, three main courses and three desserts. Mains always include a Manx Sunday roast of the day while the Posh Fisherman’s Pie is perennially popular.
 
Tickets are ?30 per person (no concessions).
 
Lunch trains in March depart Douglas Station at 1pm for Castletown, and return to Douglas by 2.30pm. 
 
Sunday Afternoon Tea – 23rd March
Mothering Sunday Afternoon Tea -30th March
 
To experience the elegance and excitement of a bygone age, take afternoon tea on the Dining Car.
 
A selection of sandwiches, cakes and cream scones are served with a choice of tea or coffee… or you can add sparkle with a glass of bubbly for special occasions.
 
Tickets are ?25 per adult or ?60 for a family – family tickets are for two adults and two children aged 15 years and under.
 
Call the booking clerk to book on 01624 697457 or email Steamdining@gov.im. Special dietary needs can be accommodated if confirmed at time of booking.

School Dinners Special (adults only) on 5th April and 26th July
Pie and Mash suppers during Rush Hour on the Railways, on 19th April
Manxman Sunday Lunches and Afternoon Teas throughout the year.
