by isleofman.com 17th March 2014
Gymns have reached the final of the Warehouse Fitness Women's FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
Alannah Hall’s strike three minutes from the end of extra-time sealed a thrilling 4-3 victory over holders Corinthians on Sunday.
The holders looked in control at the break after they opened up a 2-0 lead, courtesy of goals from Hattie Castle and Lisa Costain.
However, the Tromode side then began a stirring fightback with Gill Christian leading the charge with a double to force extra-time.
Alannah Hall then took over, putting the visitors 3-2 in front, only for an own goal to haul the Ballafletcher side level.
Gymns though weren’t to be denied and Hall was on after 117 minutes to book their final place.
There they will meet six times winners Douglas Royal who reached a record 10th final with a 6-0 success over Peel.
Donna Shimmin led the way with a hat-trick with Zoe Hawley, Becci Pate and Rebecca Cole netting the others for the champions elect.
