MUA head should have pay rise

by isleofman.com 19th March 2014
An MHK believes a political colleague should receive a pay rise.
Douglas North member John Houghton called for an increase in salary for Michael MHK Alf Cannan when he becomes chairman of the new Manx Utilities Authority next month.
As Tynwald confirmed membership fees for the next financial year, Mr Houghton - current chairman of the Water and Sewerage Authority - said the responsibility at the MUA would be equivalent to being a minister, and should be remunerated accordingly.
He described the new role as a 'massive undertaking'.
Chief Minister Allan Bell and Treasury Minister Eddie Teare - a former chairman of the MEA - agreed and said the matter would be reviewed.
