Cultural ambassador Lloyd Mayor features in New York Times

Island of Culture youth cultural ambassador Lloyd Mayor has been the subject of a recent article in the New York Times.

The 20-year-old, who lived in the Isle of Man as a teenager, was a former Young Dancer of Man and is now a dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company in New York, was interviewed by Gia Kourlas for a snapshot piece titled: ‘Saved By Martha Graham: Lloyd Mayor’s Long Road to Dance’.

In it he says the Isle of Man is ‘marvellous in terms of just the landscape, the beauty, the space. My ancestors were Vikings.  I’m very much of a pirate. I love to get muddy and dirty. But I worked hard on my intellectual side. I read a lot. I went to the sea…’
