It was with great pleasure that founder of Hospice Isle of Man, Nadene Crowther MBE, officially open the newly refurbished Hospice shop in Castletown. Nadene spoke about all the work that Hospice does, how the charity started, how important the shops were to the charity in raising valuable funds and how essential the volunteers who ran the shops were as part of the Hospice team.
The official unveiling was attended by Chairman of the Board of Hospice shops, Martin Ellis and Chairman of Castletown Commissioners Kevin Weir.
Martin expressed his gratitude to The Dr Scholl Foundation for their financial assistance with the refurbishment and thanked both Terry Groves and Paul Wilson for their work in bringing the plans to fruition.
Shops manager, Judith Leslie, assisted by shops coordinator Debbie Lagden and Castletown shop volunteer/manager Freda Dennis have created a mini boutique in the shops based in Arbory Street, Castletown. Judith added: “It was with great pleasure that we opened the newly refurbished shop – the place looks brilliant.” “I would encourage people to come and have a ‘skeet’ – there are some beautiful items for sale.”
