Academics to discuss Dalby's mongoose mystery

by isleofman.com 21st March 2014
Academics will gather in London next month to present their findings into an 80-year-old Manx ghostbusting mystery.

Gef the talking mongoose, the Dalby Spook, will be the subject of a symposium at the University of London’s Senate Hall Library on April 10.

Subjects such as Gef’s sexual symbolism, appearances in popular culture and the esoteric lesson he teaches about oneness will be discussed – and there’ll a screening of a film based on the case.

Organiser Richard Espley says the idea came from the library’s collection of material left by paranormal investigator Harry Price, who looked into the case in the 1930s.

Mr Espley says he was surprised by the response when the event was first mooted:Clip 1
