Popular plantation to close

by isleofman.com 24th March 2014

A popular plantation for walkers, cyclists and horse riding closes today (Monday).

Chibbanagh is being shut for up to six weeks as part of the environment department’s programme to tackle a devastating larch tree disease.

Phytophthora ramorum primarily affects larch trees but can spread to other plants as well.

Tree felling operations move to Chibbanagh this morning.

Forestry chiefs are apologising for any inconvenience and suggest Archallagan Forest – where there is a good variety of tracks and trails - as a suitable alternative.
