School dinners on the Dining Car

by isleofman.com 25th March 2014
It’s back to school on Saturday 5 April for people looking for fun and frolics on the Steam Railway’s Dining Car.

Any grown-up boys and girls looking for a night out with a difference can book tables at the Academy of Fun with fab food, friendly staff and lashings of fun guaranteed.

It’s said that school days are the happiest days of your life and the Head Boy and Head Girl will be making sure everyone has a great time on the School Dinners train – or else!

The Dining Car’s head chef Steve Quirke will be a dinner lady on the night. He said: ‘School Dinners night will feature good, old-fashioned home cooked school grub, freshly prepared and washed down with a fine range of beers and wines from the Bar Car. School uniforms should be worn or people can expect punishments from the headteacher – all in keeping with our jolly hockey sticks fun and games theme.’

Spotted dick and jam roly poly are on the menu along with ocean pie and sausages and mash.

Lessons start promptly at 7pm when the steam train departs Douglas Station and it will get everyone back by 10.30pm in time for the last bus home.

Tickets for this adults only event are ?40 per person (no concessions). Booking is essential. Contact the booking clerk on: (01624) 697457 or email Steamdining@gov.im.
