Children's tooth decay figures improve

by isleofman.com 26th March 2014
Latest figures for tooth decay among young children on the Island have been given a cautious welcome by the Department of Health.

Of 200 children examined for the latest survey 29% had experienced tooth decay, just one percent higher than the figure for England as a whole and considerably better than the 35% of children in the North West who have had problems.

The Clinical Director of the Salaried Dental Service, Carolyn Lewis, says whilst pleased with the figures which reflect a significant improvement over the last few years, they're not becoming complacent and are striving to reduce the figures even further.

They're now hoping to try an unusual new initiative on the Island:Clip 1
