Susan’s ‘Under the Sea’ fundraiser for Hospice Isle of Man

by isleofman.com 27th March 2014

Susan Gibson from Onchan hopes to make a splash at this year’s Manx Music Festival, the Guild, dressed as a lobster for charity. During the Music from the Shows class on May 1st she will sing ‘Under the Sea’ from Disney’s Broadway Musical ‘The Little Mermaid’.

She says, ‘Last year both my father and grandmother needed hospice care at the end of their lives. I want people in the Isle of Man to be able to have help from Hospice if they need it. Hospice has to raise ?3.5 million every year to maintain their existing services. My fundraising is just a drop in the ocean.’

She is aiming to raise ?1,000 through donations to her JustGiving webpage online. This is a quick, safe and easy way to give money directly to the charity.

Although the comic performance is funny and light-hearted, she is keen to stress that she is taking the competition very seriously. She adds, ‘I have been practising my scales with my singing teacher, for a few weeks, and that is really helping me with my ‘tuna’ing.’

Anyone wanting to make a donation to support Hospice Isle of Man is encouraged to visit Just Giving.com and search for Susan Gibson- Susan’s Under the Sea. Link to page: http://www.justgiving.com/Susan-Gibson2;
