Minister warns over mobile phones

Infrastructure Minister Laurence Skelly says he’d rather people obeyed the law than be prosecuted – but if drivers use mobiles behind the wheel, they could end up in court.

The department, along with the police, has launched a new advertising campaign tagged “pick up your phone, pick up a fine”.

It warns motorists about the sentences they can expect if they’re caught using handsets.

But how many will face prosecution? Mr Skelly says he hopes as few as possible:Clip 1
